About 1 1/2 years ago, a girl named Leigh and a boy named Garrett meet on Match.com. After several chats and correspondances, they decide to meet. …Until Garrett goes MIA on Leigh for a week. Leigh thinks Garrett has moved on and is no longer interested, so she sends him a nice-to-meet-you-good-luck-on-your-life’s-journey e-mail. And boy, that message gets Garrett moving again. Turns out an old friend had unexpectedly come into town, hijacking him for the week. But Garrett makes sure to e-mail Leigh back to say that he IS still interested! Valentine’s Day 2009 marks their first date.
Just about 14 months later, Garrett has a secret meeting with Leigh’s father to ask for her hand in marriage. And some days later, on the tennis courts, Garrett is playing poorly and explains it away to Leigh: we’re not really here for tennis. And he starts to run towards Leigh from the other side of the court, jumping the net. Leigh, not knowing what to think, runs into the corner of the court, where Garrett proposes with a poem.
Last Wednesday, I got together with Leigh & Garrett for their engagement photography session at the tennis courts of King Farm in Rockville, MD, less than 1 1/2 years after their first date. And boy, is it obvious that this is a match made in heaven. Leigh & Garrett were made for each other. Their love is everlasting. It’s meant to be. It’s fate. And this is why I love weddings. It is an incredible feeling to have the honor to be a part of and to witness the beginning of a couple’s new life together.
Congratulations, Leigh & Garrett!
Here’s a first batch of favs. Second batch coming later this week!
